We invite you to a warm-up event introducing the Feminist Art School (FAS) on January 3(Sat), 2026 at 3pm. This gathering will share the themes and structures of FAS—a pedagogical program running from February 7 to May 10, 2026.

A 15-week program in eight sessions where we will meet and discuss the most pressing concerns for feminists working in contemporary art today, and put our intuitions into practice! The objectives of the school is not only to help participants take an important step in their understanding and in their practices, but also, convening encounters with some of the most exciting and challenging artists, curators and scholars, to build community and solidarity which can sustain us in the struggles we face as people who work to manifest feminist distributions of cultural and political power.

This program aims to provide a supportive safer space for participants to venture out into unfamiliar ways of thinking and doing. We believe that the best way to learn is to attempt to synthesize and concretize our ideas and intuitions in a physical space. That’s why the program closes with an experimental exhibition of participant projects derived from their work in the program. Hosted by Alternative Space LOOP in the center of Seoul, this exhibition will work as a laboratory of thinking and analysis, providing a unique opportunity for participants to explore how their ideas and intentions resonate with and affect each other and the public. We encourage tentative, probing and experimental approaches in the spirit of learning.

The FAS program includes an Introductory session with the two directors followed by five intensive live sessions with our five international feminist art professionals. Registered participants will receive preparation materials including special pre-recorded lectures in order to prepare points of discussion for the live sessions with our five international instructors. The program concludes with two sessions preparing and staging a speculative exhibition designed and curated by the school participants as a provisional synthesis of ideas and approaches they have found useful in the earlier sessions. This concluding process will be guided by Hong Lee Hyunsook and Chang Jia. Registrations for individual sessions 1-6 are possible but only those who registered in the full program will be able to participate in sessions 7 & 8 and in the concluding exhibition.

2026년 1월 3일(토) 오후 3시, 페미니스트 아트 스쿨(FAS)를 소개하는 워밍업 이벤트에 초대합니다. 이번 자리는 2026년 2월 7일(토)부터 5월 10일(일)까지 이어지는 페다고지 프로그램 FAS의 주제와 방법론, 학교의 구성과 참여 방식을 공유하는 시간입니다.

“예술의 패러다임을 전환한다는 것은 (…) 기존의 범주와 방법론에 새로운 재료를 덧붙이거나, 여성의 존재와 역사를 덧대는 것 이상을 요구한다. 우리는 무엇을 연구 대상으로 삼는지, 그리고 그 연구를 어떤 방식으로 실천하는지에 대한 과정 자체를 근본적으로 새롭게 구성해야 한다.”

FAS는 예술을 둘러싼 제도, 노동, 재현, 돌봄, 지식 생산의 장에서 페미니스트들이 마주하는 시급한 문제와 그를 둘러싼 모순을 함께 논의하고, 구체적인 연대와 실천을 실험하는 페다고지 프로그램입니다. 이는 페미니즘 연구 및 실천을 활발히 진행해온 이론가, 큐레이터, 예술가, 비평가, 활동가를 초대하여 함께 그 관점을 공유하고, 지속적인 연대를 구축하는 것을 목표로 합니다.

프로그램은 총 8회의 세션으로 구성됩니다. 5명의 페미니스트 이론가, 큐레이터, 활동가의 강연 영상을 사전에 공유하고, 2월 7일(토)부터 격주 토요일, 총 8주간 오프라인으로 모여 강연자들과 실시간 Zoom 대화를 진행합니다. 참여자들은 해당 논의를 기반으로 개별 또는 공동 작업을 발전시키며, 4-5월 최종 프리젠테이션과 전시로 프로그램을 마무리합니다.

FAS는 정답을 제시하지 않고, 실패와 수정의 과정을 학습의 일부로 존중합니다. 참여자들은 페미니즘을 둘러싼 질문을 갱신하며, 연대의 가능성과 한계, 그리고 그 과정에서 드러나는 합의와 불일치를 함께 살핍니다. 각자의 생각과 의도가 타자, 혹은 공적 장에서 어떻게 공명하며, 어떤 효과를 만들어내는지 실험하는 자리가 되기를 바랍니다.
